Posted By stevehaigh Is this over the top? A sprinkler system, smoke detectors and intuminescent strips. Surely the first two would counter the need for the strips?????? Would n't they??????

Posted By Ron Hunter I suggest that Building Standards will routinely specify requirements for structural elements and ancillary items irrespective of any detection/alarm system or extinguishing systems forming part of the design. e.g. Your local Planning/Building Control will have mandatory requirements for fire resistance and smoke detection in new or substantially modified domestic dwellings, but no mandatory standard for extinguishing systems.
