Jack - it's widely accepted that in the event of any form of global disaster it'll be the cockroaches that survive.

During past incarnations [not as a cockroach - see earlier thread] I came to ht econclusion that there were 2 primary remedies - create conditions elswhere that the roaches found more acceptable or simply crush or paint over them.

Any crawling insect killer will do the trick, however they will just come back if the right conditions prevail within the premises.

Word of caution. Stepping on 'roaches is not a good idea, as apparently in some species the females carry their eggs on their backs. All that stepping on them does is spread the roaches to your shoe cupboard!

'Blatta germanica' german Cockroach carries her egg case (ootheca) with her and this is deposited just before they are about to hatch or if she is about to die. Then loads of the little gits come out!
