Posted By mark boath Could anybody help me with this issue. If a contractor suffers a personal injury whilst working on your site which results in hospitalisation for over 24 hrs, who is responsible for reporting the incident to the HSE/LEA . Should it be the site where the incident occurred, the contractors own employee or both parties.

Posted By Steve Sanders Mark From my understanding of RIDDOR, it is the employers responsibility. Steve

Posted By Thomas Elliott Definitely the contractor's employer... I had a similar situation a few months ago and also wasn't sure. To keep myself right I called the HSE infoline and just asked them. Was promptly informed that it was not our responsibility to report under RIDDOR. Thomas

Posted By john r sharp It is the employers responsibility: but you need to ensure that it has been reported. If it were my site I would request a copy of the report/ confirmation of report. The minimum would be the number of the ICC incident report. You can then use this in your accident investigation report. John

Posted By Mark Mace I always send a letter to the employer of the subcontractor, requesting not only copies of the riddor, but also copies of their accident investigation, however i also always offer my assisstance to complete these documents if they require the help.
