Responsibility for reporting Riddor (Contractors)

Could anybody help me with this issue. If a contractor suffers a personal injury whilst working on your site which results in hospitalisation for over 24 hrs, who is responsible for reporting the incident to the HSE/LEA . Should it be the site where the incident occurred, the contractors own employee or both parties.

From my understanding of RIDDOR, it is the employers responsibility.

Definitely the contractor's employer...
I had a similar situation a few months ago and also wasn't sure. To keep myself right I called the HSE infoline and just asked them. Was promptly informed that it was not our responsibility to report under RIDDOR.

It is the employers responsibility: but you need to ensure that it has been reported. If it were my site I would request a copy of the report/ confirmation of report. The minimum would be the number of the ICC incident report.
You can then use this in your accident investigation report.

I always send a letter to the employer of the subcontractor, requesting not only copies of the riddor, but also copies of their accident investigation, however i also always offer my assisstance to complete these documents if they require the help.
