Posted By Deana Daniels Help. This is a personal enquiry. I have just been informed that EDF energy intend to put move an existing substation to 1 metre from my house. I have spoken to the planning authority who said that they did raise some objections in terms of loss of amenity and noise, but as it is a 'permitted development' there is nothing else they can do. I am also concerned about the inconclusive risks from magnetic fields as I have a 5 month old son. Any advice from anyone with some experience in this area would be gratefully received. Deana

Posted By Ron Hunter Suggest if no legal advice forthcoming on this forum, you speak to a solicitor asap. This is more than loss of 'amenity'. This will place a severe restriction on access to maintain your property (ladders, scaffold, etc.) and is most likely to affect future value (leaving aside the contentious EMF issues).
