They should be "looked at" by local supervision or maintenance weekly (no OBVIOUS defects or weaknesses) 3. They should be "tested" quarterly. (Do they actually close when meant to) 4. They should be "inspected and tested" annually by a competent expert. Stages 2, 3, and 4 must of course be recorded. Question, just to keep me up-to-date. I visited a largish (1500 employee) plant last week. Warehouse was separated from production by a fire-wall. Palettes were delivered to the production side on conveyors and picked up by FLTs. Each conveyor opening was protected by a fire roller shutter. Both sides protected by separate (reserves, pumps and distribution) sprinkler systems. Q. is this standard or even "best" practice in the UK ? I've never seen it that good elsewhere. Merv.
