Not all stewards have to be licenced at the moment but those involved in searches of bags, supervising entry points or supervising of bar areas where alcohol are sold should be SIA at least. If any staff are required to guard people carrying cash or artistes then also SIA. Other stewards should only be there for information and guidance. Any required to diffuse violent or similar situations such as a response team will need SIA. CCTV operators should be SIA also. Once you fill in online form to get info from SIA they will not look at it for six weeks and then send you the forms which are comprehensive and demand absolute accuracy. The form will then be subject to CRB check for some trades. I don't know how long it takes from this point but they are extremely busy trying to register some 100,000 security operatives at various levels. Managers of events or those in a supervisory role of stewards and SIA staff should also register with SIA as non-front line workers and checks are slightly less onorous. This is about the sum of my knowledge and there may be other hoops to jump. Good luck Mike
