Posted By Steve Derby Pete, would have thought this would be down to risk assessment and guidance via Manual Handling Regs. Is a rucksack necessary or could bags on the cycle be utilised?

Posted By pete049 Rucksacks will have to be used due to the nature of the work and the equipment being carried.

Posted By Blaise Why not use a bicycle trailer instead of a rucksack. They are out there, try the Edinburgh bicycle cooperative. http://www.edinburgh-bic...subcollections.cfm?ID=94

Posted By Jeffrey Watt Pete If you are a courier service your Local Authority is your enforcer and might have some guidance from past cases. This is worth a look also out of general interest http://www.hse.gov.uk/fo...ctors/cactus/5_99_52.pdf It explains Royal Mails problems and solutions to PUWER and failure modes occuring in work bikes. Kind regards Jeff
