Posted By Paul Leaman Thank you all for your replies to my last thread about my problems with the window cleaner. Following all of your helpful advice and emails I spoke to the Senior Managers and explained why what and how we should do things together with several of the examples you have provided. Whether I will get a result is still up for debate but at least they can't say they weren't told. So thank you all again. Thought you might like a picture of the current 'procedure' for your files. They say a picture speaks a thousand words.. how many bad practices can you spot? http://i62.photobucket.c...6/I_JANUS_I/DSCF0073.jpg

Posted By Merv Newman Paul,
thanks for the photo. I see he is clever enough to block the emergency exit and access to the fire extinguisher simultaneously.

He could leave quite an impression, in more ways than the obvious.
Good luck

Posted By Pete48 Paul, but you didn't tell us that he had a Bruce Willis "I'm indestructable-look at my pecs" vest. Don't you know that this protects him from any danger and that he is no longer a mere mortal? Doh!
Seriously though, the very best of luck with moving forward, one day you will be able to recount this with a smile on your face.

Posted By Merv Newman look, if Bruce Willis can leap off a tall building wrapped only in a fire hose and smash through a plate glass window with just a few superficial cuts to his feet (bit of an "ouch" there if I remember correctly) (and not a first aider in sight) then I'm going to buy his tee-shirt.
My Hero !

It may not be Friday for you, but it nearly is here and I'm done for the week

Posted By Granville Jenkins Hi
As well as the other comments made, it is interesting to note that the ladder does not extend a suitable distance past the landing point and neither is the ladder tied in which together would give cause for concern!
On a lighter note, the guy is maintaining 3 points of contact (sic)!
Regards Granville

surely this heroic chap could gain access by leaping from the mezz level handrail, grasping and swinging on the light fitting ending in one final leap to the point of work. This would then eliminate the need for the ladder thereby leaving the fire exit clear.
Bruce could do it!!!!

Posted By MT Have the management no concept of what will happen should an Inspector happen to see this or hear of it?
Personally, and this is not a criticism of you, I could not stand by and watch this person working. I'd make an anonymous complain to the local Environmental Health department.

Posted By Dave Wilson I know it was done with the best will and intention to share bad practice, however could this be construed as 'prima facie' evidence for a prosecution as the HSE / LA people do use this site!

Posted By TBC Because it is a Peugeot Dealership and in an ‘Allo Allo’ accent – “Cannot you see that he haz ze stealth of a Black Panther and grip of Spider Monkee when he is up ze ladder? How else is a simple window cleaner going to impress ze ladies.
Would love to see the ladder go when he’s above the tiled area. I don’t see any grip on that floor area.
Noticed you took his picture behind his back – coward. Don’t blame you – he looks he’s built like ze brick &&&& house.

Posted By Christopher Yes, as experts in our field we can all come up with potential hazards. However, as some have identified on this thread the name of the organisation that Paul works for, is there not a danger of his actions being interpreted as 'whistleblowing'. It was a great picture, but not sure in YOUR own interests it was such a good idea. Have you checked your companies disciplinary policy?

Posted By Paul Leaman The HSE are currently investigating the motor group as a whole and are disecting every dealership one by one and they are fully aware of the 'situation'. I have posted asking advice because of the wide ranging experience held by the users of this forum, however yes I guess I could be putting the pistol to my head. But without the advice and inspiration I get on this forum I really would be up against it.
The email address is one of convenience when working at one dealership of the many we currently have in the group and although it may or may not be currently under investigation I would like to add that the manufacturer is not nor ever has been involved in any situation that may now or in the future arise at my Employers dealership.
How did the situation arise back in the mists of time? The owner threw an EHO off of his property using some rather choice language..
