Posted By Andy Roden Regarding domestic slot-in, free-standing cookers, installed in a housing association/social housing context. I am well aware of the Landlords responsibility with respect to gas cookers; to fit a safety chain (to prevent damage to the flexible hose and connections)and also a stability bracket (to prevent the cooker from tilting forwards). However, I am struggling to find any regulations/guidance regarding fitting a stability bracket to a free standing electric cooker. The risk of tilting appears to me to be equally relevant, regardless of the type of fuel source

Posted By David Robb The connection unit has a retaining clamp which secures the cable and the termination of the cable within the cooker should also be secure. Remember also that if a gas pipe ruptures you have an escape of gas, if you accidentally damage an electrical cable, and a 6mm upward cable is fairly robust stuff, it should cause a fault and disconnect the protective device. This is all of course assuming the installation has been carried out by a competent electrician.
