I am aware that the company has a responsibility to ensure that contractors work safetly etc etc while on site.

I want to put together an agreement between my company and the cleaning company outlining their need to take care with COSSH, behave in a safe manner while on site, and other things which I can't remember write now.

Does anyone have any examples or suggestions on what to include

Current copy of Contractors Liability Insurance – sufficient to cover a minimum amount of £5 million pounds.
A detailed Method Statement
Copies of Risk Assessments
Copies of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for any and all substances that may be used
Training / Qualification details for all of the contractors employees that are involved and on site
First Aid Personnel competence details (Copy of current certificate) if they have any.
List of possible referees (prior contracts)

Checklist that the contractor must complete prior to work starting with a list of the following as an example

We or our sub contractors wish to bring on site the following

Explosives
Abrasive Wheels
Pneumatic Drill
Flammable, Corrosive materials/substances
Scaffolding
Toxic materials/substances
Ladders
Oxidising materials/substances
Cart Stud Guns
Welding Equipment
Harmful materials/substances
Lifting Equipment
Irritant materials/substances
Vehicles
Ionising radiation equipment
Power tools
Compressed gases
Machinery
Site hut/s

We or our sub contractors wish to use by agreement the following

Electricity
Water
Compressed Air
Effluent Disposal
Solid waste disposal
Gas
Company equipment / machinery
Other

The work will involve the following hazards

Overhead Working
Excavations
Duct work
Confined spaces
Sub station
Isolation of services
Other special hazards as identified

I am sure others can add additional items to the lists, but this is the sort of things I would expect to see prior to any contract being awarded but especially before work started, so that I or the company representative could ensure that all controls measures identified are in place, suitable and working.

If you contact me off forum, may be able to send you some additional information, that you may find of interest or be able to adapt accordingly for your particular situation.

the company should have had to bid for the work against a tender specification - the 'agreement' should be to adhere to the tender specification

View your tender docs; - if they do not include adhering to health and safety get them changed

If they do include such statements remind the service provider of their agreement
