Posted By Tumbleweed Evening Steve, The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regs stipulate requirements re ventilation within workplaces. The HSE website also provides good guidance. In short, every enclosed workplace must be ventilated by a sufficient quantity of fresh or purified air. Workplaces should also have suitable and sufficient lighting, and where practicable, this should be by natural light. Hope this helps. Tumbleweed

Posted By steve g thanks ill take a look tomorrow at those regs ,natural light is a no go looks as though we will have to put in some sort of lev much to the disapointment of my employer, however as its low usage and less than 60 persons at least the rest of the build is quite straightforward steve

Posted By Bob Shillabeer Just hold on a minute. All you have said is your employer wants to establish a cabin inside a bigger warehouse to use as an office. There are no legal reasons not to allow such a building as far as I am aware. Provided there is adequate lighting available and the dimensions of the building are adequate I see no reason why not. It would be better to have windows in the internal cabin to ensble the air to move better, but this could result in the noise levels being too high depending on the type of warehouse you are refering to. Remember there are many places where an internal building is used as office space especially where the main activity is rather noisy. To talk about external ventaiation systems is way over the top for a general office use room. Why not try and convince your employer to convert one side of the outter building into one wall (the external one that is) of the new room?

Posted By steve g sorry should have made it clearer i have been brought into this project at the later stages ,im sure we can all relate to this? the kitchen and rooms are all but finished apart from decoration ,i have sorted the fire regs so that the inner and outer area complies with doc b however they have no ventilation the back wall where they have built is onto another persons unit otherwise the idea of opening that up would have been perfect, the rest of the main area is used only for storage. i have been brought into this as building control turned up otherwise i think i would have found it on an inspection at completion !!! steve
