Have a look at the ACoP L8 - you probably don't need to do routine testing of showers. I have done a risk assessment at our premises and have implemented a water hygiene regime where we flush through the showers every week for 3 minutes and every 3 months disinfect and descale the showers heads and pipework.

Thanks Liz,
Can I be cheeky and ask if you would send me a copy of your stuff to look at?

L8 does state in section 166 that weekly testing is preferable for shower-head flushing.

L8 should be able to provide your answers.
If the shower is infrequently used or there are more showers than needed, I would suggest decommissioning.
Similar issues can arise from infequently used disabled toilets. Obviously these cant usually be taken out of service but use by able bodied people can be encouraged.
