Posted By Bob Shillabeer Just a quick question. A problem has been passed to me concerning the testing of in office showers for legionella. Can anyone quickly tell me where the legal requirment to tset showers in the workplace is based please. I need to find out quickly so any answers would be very much appreciated

Posted By Liz Maw Have a look at the ACoP L8 - you probably don't need to do routine testing of showers. I have done a risk assessment at our premises and have implemented a water hygiene regime where we flush through the showers every week for 3 minutes and every 3 months disinfect and descale the showers heads and pipework.

Posted By andymak L8 should be able to provide your answers. If the shower is infrequently used or there are more showers than needed, I would suggest decommissioning. Similar issues can arise from infequently used disabled toilets. Obviously these cant usually be taken out of service but use by able bodied people can be encouraged.
