Can anyone advise me where I can get some information on occupational health screening requirements for employees in contact with small amounts of lead solder.

From this link you can access and download plenty of info, including L132 the ACOP for Control of Lead Regs.

Inhalation of lead in soldering is unlikely - soldering is done at a temperature that is too low for the generation of lead fume. As mentioned earlier, the flux can be a (considerable) problem, however.
The other route of entry is by ingestion, and this can be avoided by washing the hands before eating.
