Can anyone advise me where I can get some information on occupational health screening requirements for employees in contact with small amounts of lead solder. Thanks

Hi, The first place I would look is in The Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002, section 10 ( http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2002/20022676.htm ). I have listed a couple of other sources below if employees are actually soldering (not just handling). Note these concentrate mainly on the flux than lead. http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg248.pdf http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/guidance/wl17.pdf Hope this helps.

Hi Try having a look at http://www.hse.gov.uk/lead/ From this link you can access and download plenty of info, including L132 the ACOP for Control of Lead Regs. Cheers smitch

Inhalation of lead in soldering is unlikely - soldering is done at a temperature that is too low for the generation of lead fume. As mentioned earlier, the flux can be a (considerable) problem, however. The other route of entry is by ingestion, and this can be avoided by washing the hands before eating.
