Good afternoon, I was due to start at Portsmouth Uni to do their 3 year distance learning PgC / MSc Courses in Occupational Environmental Health and Safety Management course. Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstanaces they are not running the course this year and I have to wait until 2011 - I have searched the web to find another provider for this but all i can find are courses that require me to attend which i cant do Anyone know of another provider i can approach? Thank you in advance of any help/information

Hi, I have also been looking at taking this course but was waiting to register to start the course in February 2011. Do you know if this means Portsmouth will not be running the course until September 2011? If so I would also be interested in alternative courses if anyone has any ideas. Many thanks

I have just e-mailed Portsmouth uni on this, as I recieved details on this course on Friday 04/08/10 stating that they were..!!!! It would be nice to have confirmation. One of my colleagues has been trying to start the diploma (Nebosh) with the BSC and this has been cancelled twice due to lack of numbers. This course looked like an ideal alternative.

Got the answer back quickly, confirms what the earlier poster said. Dear Paul Many Thanks for your email, I am afraid we are not offering recruitment to our distance learning courses until September 2011. Kind Regards Vicky

I have completed the PGC and Diploma at Strathclyde and intend to enrole for the final year towards the MSC qualification in October. For me it was very hard work especially the PGC but then I am a very mature student and others may find it easier, especially anyone not in full time employment. The Diploma modules on Risk Management and Methods of Professional Enquiry have proved to be very useful to me and have really broadened my outlook in the workplace. I highly recommend the courses but expect hard work, the tutors are excellent, Best of luck, John

I have completed the BSc Occ S, H & E at the University of Greenwich and from my own experience would recommend it due to the overall standard of tuition, learning material etc. I am looking to start an MSc, more than likely at Greenwich. They have a January intake as a previous poster has indicated and the cut-off point for application is late November. I hope this info may be of use to those of you who are looking for an MSc course to start earlier than September of next year.

The same as John K - Last year I did the PgCert at Strathclyde. It was a tough course i.e.: the amount of essays and deadlines to meet while workin but very much worth it. The course tutors were fantastic and were always quick to help and guide you. I don't say this often about anything, but I would recommend them. The price is reasonable too.

I completed an MSc in health, safety & environmental management at the Uninversity of Glamorgan Wales, this was tuff and there are a lot of dead lines. Though mine was a 3 year course which required attendance i am sure the will or would do a distance learning course. you will need to speak to Dr Dawn Story Good luck

Hi Have you considered the new MSc Risk Management at Nottingham Trent University which is primarily distance learning (with optional attendance) starting in October. It has 4 pathways depending on what you want to do. The pathways are: •Health and Safety Management •Corporate Responsibility •Health and Well-Being •Environmental Management Practice (Associate Certificate in Environmental Management is recognised by the Institution of Environmental Management and Assessment for associate membership purposes). If you want more information have a look at their website http://www.ntu.ac.uk/app...hin_Risk_Management.aspx Hope this helps and you find a course which suits you.

Hi Yvonne, As somone has already stated take a look at Strathclydes Distance Learning Course. I'm busy worrying myself silly for the PG Dip intake in October.... The other course that piqued my interest when I was searching was Loughboroughs course which looks excellent but is not soley distance learning and as a UK exile didn't suit my circumstances. Google occupational safety and health and both should pop up....
