A contractor on our site is using dump trucks with virtually no tread, I have highlighted this however there seems to be no legal limit for the tread on these tyres, if I had legal guidance on this I could point to it.
can anyone point me in the right direction?

I don't believe there is any legal standard for vehicle tyres in an off road situation. However, under PUWER
there is a requirement to ensure any equipment is safe to use, no tread on dumper tyres, in an off road situation is not safe (you could contact vehicle manufacturer).
A point to note is that if the tyres are substandard are the vehicles safe- regular servicing (brakes, hydraulic hoses etc), are the drivers competent (I would suspect not if driving poorly maintained vehicles).
Hope this of some use.

no legal requirement for tread on these trucks and they are safe to use.
