In the absence of any immediately obvious reference material on HSE web page - can anyone give any pointers to criteria to use when placing a small gymnasium within a workplace. I'd like to see something to guide me on space, space between equipment, ventilation and so on. I'd be really grateful for a steer on this.

We have a small gym, and as far as I'm aware we haven't used any guidance (not sure if its available), we just used shared experience and 'common sense' - yes, I know its a cliche...
The machines all have a foot or so between them, and some circulation space in the middle of the room allows safe access/egress, we have some changing rooms nearby, a water cooler and some scales and other bits and pieces.
We do get a specialist company to come in every year to service the equipment, and have a simple gym induction/disclaimer for users to complete.
My notes of caution are around overcrowding, and people bringing in bits of fitness equipment from home.
