Could anyone provide me with some guidance on the following - If you was to position a mobile tower on a public footpath would you need to inform the council or Landowner? In the new road and street work act 1991 mentions a street works license would this be needed for this situation, if so where do you get one from? Would all of the above also apply if you was to use a ladder or stepladder on a public footpath? We need this equipment to access, maintain external air conditioning units that are wall mounted on the side of the building.

Toby With regard to placing an obstruction on a public pavement you may need to obtain permission from the local authority. I have often had to apply for a license to put up a scaffold on a pavement, each LA may have different criteria as to whether you need to apply for a license and pay some sort of fee and show you have public liability insurance as well.

Cheers. Was it a mobile tower or a fixed scaffold to the building? Would this apply to using a ladder/stepladder?

Contact the local council, does the mobile tower in question take up all the footpath, so that pedestrians cannot pass safely?
