My client has a building in which there are a blind corners in corridors and also with kitchenettes exiting to the corridors. There have been a number of near misses with staff rushing about/ not paying attention and colliding with people carrying drinks etc. I have been asked by the client to provide some campaign material to provide to staff to warn of the risks and action to take etc. Would anyone be able to point me toward any material please?

Blind corners, hot coffee, busy staff and tea points? Doesn't this describe virtually every office in the UK???
Miles, I am pleased you have been tasked with this from your customer, after all its obviously ££££s in your bank - but why would any organisation need to seek assistance from a H&S professional about such an everyday risk?
Isn't this a simple staff communication/poster and signage issue at most or am I missing something?
No offence, but I wish my inbox was full of such simple, low risk stuff!!!

Do we get commission for any material sent to you..... no thought not!!
I guess you will be charging your full consultancy rate for work done by others....

I suggest your client employ staff with working brains. Failing that: Get rid of the coffee machine or designate a room for eating/drinking. They can even make-up a name for it: Canteen.

Miles try googling for safety procedures/policy at busy restaurants where they have to I still a culture of careful behaviour. Some premises have swing doors so if they are carrying drinks or trays they have to walk slowly backwards through them, and those doors have windows.

Why not get them to install quarter dome surveillance mirrors in the corners so people can be seen when approaching corners?

Did suggest mirrors as well. Is it one particular corner? I say this because at my last place we had one staircase where people were always having accidents. There were 5 other identical staircases which worked without any problems. The fact that that particular staircase in led up to the directors’ suite might have had something got do with it. I did ban one employee from using a scooter on the corridor for the reasons discussed
