Can the carrier produce the dangerous goods note for transport or does it have to be the organisation from where the dangerous good originate? FYI these are waste chemicals from hospitals and the amounts do meet ADR.

That's my understanding of it aswell. They provide the docuement to confirm exactly what we are loading onto the transport.

The consignor is the person or company that produces the waste and it is their duty to ensure the consignment note details are correct. However, in reality the waste company / transport company (licenced carrier & management site) will produce the actual note for you, but it remains the producers (consignors) duty to ensure it is correct. Also, Consignors duty to ensure the carrier and waste management site has a suitable licence. It will be the waste managements site responsibility to complete and return part E for you to check and to close the loop.

There is a difference between the consignment note (waste) and the DG Note under ADR. The carrier may well complete the waste consignment note, but will not complete the DGN. 1.4.2.1 of ADR details that the consignor's responsibility. Also, 5.4.1 details what should be on the DGN.

Also note that if the dangerous goods that are being transported are 'limited quantities' and the journey is entirely by road then a DGN is not required but a list of what is being transported is. Edited by user 12 June 2018 15:44:28(UTC)
