Just a question, as I am unable to find any legis;itave information on the requirements of haveing a gas isolation switch for a static caravan, that is not used for any business purposes but family members on an irregular basis.
Can any one advise wherre if any legal requirements out there, as the gas safe engineer stated before he left on his last visit that it was a legal requirement
Thank you

The specific requirement is probably quoted/specified in an IGEM standard (Institute of Gas Engineers and Manager)
DOn't know which one though.

So are you saying the Gas Safe engineer left the site, leaving you with an illegal set up! But still functioning. Seems a bit odd.

Yes he did, however in the defence, it is not being used, and is sat empty, and fully isolated, I will be getting him back to complete all the works necessary before I let any one in there, however the reason for my question was because I needed the clarification on whether or not this is a legal/legislative requirement, based against good practice, as it is for sole/private use and not commercial . If it is a then there is no problem about getting the works necessary done.

How is the gas supplied? If its LPG in cylinders are there not cut off valves on the top of the bottle, or close to the bottles if more than 1. If its a piped supply i would expect a switch next to the meter similar to a house.

It is by a single LPG cylinder, when I bough the thing and got it certificated there was no mention of a switch, or one already fitted, however, I do agree with you and since found out the following: The requirements for gas installations in mobile dwellings are outlined in IGEM/G/6 - Gas in Mobile Dwellings. Clause 4.1.3 of the Standards states that “An ECV must be fitted as close as reasonably practicable to the point of entry to any mobile dwelling. Note: Normally, the ECV will be located in a meter or regulator housing, for example a meter box.” The above applies to all types of mobile dwellings including ones for personal use.
So engineer will be back to fit one.
Hope this help others in the future.
