Our Global standards and the ACOP suggest driver medicals are appropriate. Q Has anyone any examples to illustate the point of the importance of medical fitness to FLT and plant users to our Occupational Health dept.Our trainer is still training without medicals in place Q what is the likely outcome and implications ?

Posted By Chris Pollington Hi Steve, If you take a look at HS(G)6 safety in working with fork trucks, it clearly states the medical requirements required. We give medicals at the time of re-training which for our high reach drivers is 2 years and all others 3 years. At the very least your trainer should know whether the trainees can see past the end of their nose, we have had a number of instances where the first time a person realises that they have a sight defect is when having their flt medical. I presume that your trainer has the correct competencies to train (which is different to just qualifications) Regards Chris.
