Dear all,
Please try and settle a gentle discussion. Is there specific legislation which dictates that portable fire extinguishers must be "where practicable" wall mounted or set on floor stands when not. My recollection is that in a manufacturing environment fire extinguishers should be wall mounted a metre from the floor near to the fire risk but this is not enshrined in law just in employers guides etc. Please advise.

It's in guidance and codes of practice - unless a fire certificate specifies and makes it legally enforceable. I take it that you mean that the handles are 1m from the floor.
