Posted By Ron Young Dear all, Please try and settle a gentle discussion. Is there specific legislation which dictates that portable fire extinguishers must be "where practicable" wall mounted or set on floor stands when not. My recollection is that in a manufacturing environment fire extinguishers should be wall mounted a metre from the floor near to the fire risk but this is not enshrined in law just in employers guides etc. Please advise.

Posted By Ken Taylor It's in guidance and codes of practice - unless a fire certificate specifies and makes it legally enforceable. I take it that you mean that the handles are 1m from the floor.
