Should complex 24/7 shift patterns be subjected to formal Risk Assessments?
I'm thinking here about the fittness people to drive home, people falling asleep at the wheel has been in the news quite a bit this year.
A company may well put in place systems to ensure that workers don't cause accients on their premises but what about when they're driving to or from work?

Note the working time directive [nightworker risk assessment]. Additionally it is proven that certain types of shift working causes harm. Note t American experience and some uk police systems of work
