Posted By Cathy Ricketts We are having problems in one of our offices with regards to staff coming up in flea like bites. There is no evidence of pests therefore we are presuming that it is cable bug. Please can anyone advise on the best way to deal with this and also how to reduce static which seems to be a major problem this time of year. We have tried using broad leaved plants and mist humifiers which dont seem to help much

Posted By Ken Taylor If you can change the carpet to an 'anti-static' type you might gid rid of the insects as well. If the carpet and static remains, wooden cabinets, etc will prevent some of the discharges. Has insecticide been tried (safely of course)?

Posted By Karen Todd Cathy,
There was an article about this in a magazine called Tips & Advice: Health & Safety (published by Indicator) - Issue 10 17th February 2003.
As well as the measures you have tried, it also suggested buying a humidifier, opening windows, placing anti-static mats in front of photocopiers and communal printers, spraying carpets with water after hours (being careful of electrical equipment!), and apparently you can also buy an anti-static spray from an office supplier.
How effective these measures are I don't know.
Regards,
Karen
