I have been asked to look into the possibility of planning and installing a small canteen/kitchen, where food preparation, cooking and storage will take place.
The intention is to employ a designated person to oversee the operation of the canteen/kitchen. The area that has been designated is an existing room on a first floor, which has a single fire exit, leading to a staircase and then a final exit out of the building.
Does any other Forum users have any experience of similar projects or where I can go a source of further advice?.

hi elizabeth,
make a plan of the room in relation to the building,door and stairs take to your local
planning office and speak to building and control they will tell you how to go about it

It sounds as if you will become a provider of food and therefore should be licenced as such depending on your LA. Worth asking your local EHO about the requirements.
