Posted By Nigel Hammond I'm not sure, but I think these dimensions originally came from an old British Standard Document that was written in the late 1980's. I remember using the standard in 1995/96 when 17" screens started appearing and many desks were not big enough. Nowdays, flat screens are taking over. So, these dimensions are unlikely to provide a realliable standard for modern workstations. I have found that most of the standard office desks in our building do not quite meet the 800mm x 1600 dimensions - they are a few cm smaller. I would use them as approximate guidelines rather than a minimum.
