Posted By Jasonjg Hello all I have spent the best part of 3 days trying to get accident & incident data then analyse it for one of my assignments. (All done now phew!) The company that has helped me has asked that I assist them in tracking and displaying their accident data. Anyway I have whipped up a useful little tool, which helps track, and analyse an ongoing 12 months worth of accidents & Incidents. As the company and I have both got what we wanted for free, I feel it only fair to share this tool with this community. Some of you will belong to big nice organisations that have this all covered but some may not. It may also be useful for some students like myself to better understand the principles and seek out patterns. Please email me by clicking my name and I will send you a copy. Ps If you have good excel editing skills you can probably improve the format or change it to track other Performance Indicator’s i.e. machine breakdowns or damage only incidents. PPs Is there a place that I can send this to get it hosted for other safety folk to download?

Posted By Jasonjg Further to a query received. The days lost and hours worked will need to be added to each month. It will however roll those figures over to the year to date box. Also there is a cost box that you can add the average cost per to company per day lost. The figure will then be calculated and can be bloody scary after a few months lol. Obviously not everyone’s cup of tea but as I said, "it is all editable" and can be changed to monitor other areas.

Posted By Jasonjg After some funny comments and request for help about Jason and his multicoloured Accident stats, I thought I would post some tips here. I had to use so many colours to help me validate data, as the sheet requires so many calculations. I have only been playing with excel for a couple of weeks now and think its a good first attempt. First check this picture out for a simple example. Not so multicoloured. http://img66.imageshack....3/accidenttracker1sn.jpg This can easily be done 1. The colour Scheme can easily be changed by using the little paint box supplied with excel. Select all the cells and then use dropdown box next to box to select colour. 2. Change all to white first and highlight text to black. 3. You can set all the gridlines to a equal match by checking the gridline box when highlighting the cells. 4.Whatever you do, make sure you stick to having the editable cells a different colour than the calculated cells. Look at example picture. Just make a backup copy, have a play and then set your scheme. Like I say If you improve the format and add cool charts etc, please share.

Posted By Jasonjg Phew my inbox has been busy Anyway thanks all for the comments. I do apologise to people who may struggle making comparison charts due to limited knowledge of excel. A little tip is as follows 1 Create new sheet 2 create layout and style for your report i.e. Total number of incidents this year by department or site or accident rates by month to show trend. 3. Use the paste function (looks like the f) 4. Import your required data (you can add minus multiply etc) Takes a little bit of trial and error 5. Create charts from this sheet Hope that helps some. Anyway if you have any good homemade forms with regards to performance tracking and are willing to share so I can get this assignment off my back please do send to me direct. In return I will promise to give something back to the community if I see a good use for it to make our lives easier. Safety will catch up to quality one day, even in small companies. Jason Out

Posted By H Klinkenberg If you are looking for free health and safety calculating stuff there is a lot of free downloads relating to stress risk assessment at www.stressbiz.co.uk. The excel worksheet there also has a costing section for accidents as a contributor to stress costs.
