We are looking at incorporating our stress management policy into a well being policy does anyone have any examples of a well being policy that they would be willing to share.

A very very subjective area, this one Cathy. What exactly would your comany interpretation of well- being be.
Mine would be less hours, more pay for alot less responsibility and accountability.
Only joking, but a policy like that could be constued as very discriminative.
If there is a problem with "stress" at work I don't think an "add-on" well being policy addresses the root.

The one I support is derived from Dominic Cooper's 'reciprocal' model of organisational wellbeing and safety. He published it in 'Improving Safety Culture', John Wiley, 1996. (As it now costs £146.00 on Amazon.co.uk, you can have a copy of my notes from it, as long as you acknowledge the source).

To my knowledge, it is the only model that dovetails levels of wellbeing, safety and organisational maturity.

I made the following notes on well being mentioned in the report

Well being (secondary intervention)

Essentially comprises helping employees cope with pernicious stressors…..daily hassles and includes stress awareness / healthy lifestyle / stress coaching / social support / time management / project management / relaxation provision p 104 Abbey national offer respite rooms in their Great Place to Work initiative. p90 London Electricity p 79/80 give advice at induction and support following promotion.

Under SHAW (Scotland Health at Work) a programme to improve health at work of employees there is a scheme for Mental Health & Wellbeing (strong links to Stress).
