Hi All,
On return from hols,I have been sent a fire risk warning concerning a desk top oscillating fan.The particular model is a Micromark MM300082.However,it may apply to other makes.Apparently an electrical fault developed which was caused by the mains cable between the pedestal and the oscillating head of the fan wearing through. This resulted in short-circuiting with considerable sparking and smoke damage to the unit. This happened on a local NHS site.I have asked the manufacturers to comment !!!
i.e.Has there been any recalls,I missed when away??
Regards,Paul

Thanks John,
For your prompt response. We in Social Services don't seem to get the Safety Action Notices. We do get the MDA stuff.Note the same model prefix MM xxxx.I am waiting their response i.e. warnings etc. This was news to me.
Regards,Paul

Hi John,
Further to my last response our faulty fan was indeed a MM8965.I have spoken to the manufacturers and they seem unaware of the NHS, Safety Action Notices.I will sent them our fans photo's and ask for their action/advice.
Regards,Paul

You will note from the 1997 notice that the manufacturer was offering a replacement part. I expect that the people you are talking to now were just not around 9 years ago!
