Posted By MICHAEL T Does anyone know of a supplier or manuafacturer of hi-viz clothing for the fairer sex. We have a petite young lady who is now going out on site and the only thing that I can find is a children's cycling jacket. Standard small sizes aren't small enough. Any suggestions greatfully received.

Posted By David Bramall Michael Depending where, or what the site is, maybe it is important that a high degree of "high visibility" is required. Depending on the work that the individual is doing, again a higher or lesser degree of visibility may be appropriate. If it a very hazardous operation / location, I would almost be tempted to insist on high - viz gear which is a larger fit than required for the individual, just for the benefit of higher conspicuity (obviously bearing in mind that if the gear causes other operational problems for the individual - tripping over the sleeves, blown away in the wind etc.) a rethink is required. Regards DrB

Posted By TBC DrB What the hell are you on about. MICHAEL obviously only wants a petite size for this young lady to feel comfortable in and Martyn has given a great site where this can be found. End of story.

Posted By Merv Newman TBC, look at the time line. 17.53 obviously DrB had just got back from the pub. I found the mental image generated by his posting to be quite amusing. Merv

Posted By Tony Bish Petite size Hi-Viz may be acceptable on a site, but not on the Highway. I am told by our supplier there is a minimum area of material that the waistcote Hi-Viz must contain, as a result the smallest size is medium? A Hi-Viz polo or tee shirt may be a option for the small size.

Posted By lindz2001 We just use a small adult size for all our ladies. It just depends on the supplier/maufacturer on whether they stock them or not but they do conform to the relevant standards. You have just got to find them!! we use www.spireworkwear.co.uk for ours, reasonable price too.

Posted By MP123 Just to clear up a few myths:- 1) David - HiVis garments are manufactured with an oversize to allow the wearer to wear garments underneath the hivis garment. The oversize is usually 8-12cm on the chest measurement. 2) Tony - What you're supplier has told you is tripe, I suspect he doesn't stock size small! All sleevless vests (S to 5XL) conform to EN471 Class 2, sleeved vests (S - 5XL) confirm to EN471 Class 3. For highway use, you should be looking at a Class 3 vest. 3) 99.9% of all childrens vests only conform to EN1150 due to there being insufficient background material to reach the required EN471 standard. Hope this helps.

Posted By MarkJAWatkins I have visions of the lady walking about the site with the tail of the hi-viz trailing behind her...as she trips and falls down a unguarded excavation! Regards, Mark

Posted By Linda Crossland-Clarke Hi I just ran the sides of mine through the sewing machine to make it thinner. The overalls I folded over n stiched around the middle to make them shorter. Still have a saggy bum though (but not when I take them off!) Regards Linda
