Hi
I've been asked about 'ladder dogs' - does anyone know what they are and in what situations they would be used. Have Googled them but got no joy.
Thanks,
MM

Is this a local name??
I would ask the individual concerned to show / explain what they mean by the given name

I think this may be another colloquial term equivalent to "cripples" - no DDA offence meant. These were brackets that were attached to ladder rungs. If you erected two ladders each with a cripple at the same height you could, in theory place a work platform across to bridge the gap. They were a favorite of painters and gutter people and I have seen some around with the less reputable uPVC soffit and bargeboard installers.
Best advice is to remind potential users that they live up to their name for significant numbers of users.
