I cant seem to find anywhere how long risk assessments should be kept for? should i be 4 years to stay in line with accident forms?

We keep ours for 5 years, for all items that are assessed annually, and 10 years for all items that are assessed from any time period of 2 - 5 years.
COSHH assessments we keep for 40 years along with the MSDS, these are scanned onto disk (saves space).
It will be interesting to see others criteria for record keeping.

Hi Sean,
A starting point for deciding on retention would be the relation between the document and the time limitation in place for any claim that could be issued against your organisation.

Thanks for the input so far, it looks like the best time frame is 4 years. With people having up to 3 years to claim for an accident.
