I have been having a discussion with a safety representative regarding training. He tells me that it is in the regulation that he must attend only TUC accredited courses. I do not believe this to be true, as in White V Pressed Steel Fisher. What is your opinion?

Either may be true, however there is an advantage in trade union training as it is usually free to safety reps. I organised similar training some years ago in Liverpool and found the TUC most helpful.

It is my belief that TU reps are allowed to attend offical TU H&S courses in work time e.g. Stage 1&2. However, this is missing the point, is it not about working together for the benefit of the workforce? Not fostering a climate of adversity.
