Posted By Robert. Agree with first thread. Can't see the problem with that. After all the hat is being used properly, ie on the head. In my experience the hats aren't that great insulators and body heat loss through the head can be extremely dangerous. The "woolly" hat is a comforter and an aid to retaining body heat.

Posted By Malcolm Fryer Pamela My personal view is use this sort of PPE should be worn with a correctly designed liner and this should avoid introducing unnecessary hazards. I have a photograph some where of a gent on a site wearing at least 2 woolly hats for warmth and then a hard hat balanced on top and back to front! The trouble is that when you let people adapt things they can often loose the plot. Common sense and all that :-) Trouble with wearing garments under hats? Well one that comes to mind after the need for correct adjustment before and after use. Another is that some under wear will effect how well it remains on the head? Could require a chin strap. Posted By Raymond Rapp Pamela I do not see a problem with it, but some companies do ban bobble and hard hat use on the grounds of hearing believe it or not. I was told you can purchase specially designed warmers with an ear piece to be worn under a hard hat. Regards
