I'm really not sure if this is a daft question or not, but does anyone think that it is possible in a coffee making machine (cafe shop type) that the water could be maintained within the machine bewteen the 20 and 45 degrees and then be dispersed in a steam form. Again, sounds silly, but any thoughts????

Very much doubt it, if the coffee machine is in regular use and the water is boiling/close to boiling temp.

From memoery the bug likes water in the range of 20-45 deg C and is killed above about 60 deg C. Basically it likes about body temperature.

Steam (evaporated water) doesn't carry legionella, only water droplets (sprayed off the liquid) can.
