How many more responsibilities tagged onto H/S ??

While job searching, I have become amazed at the semingly never ending string of additional responsibilities employers want to tag on behind H/S. It is not uncommon for example to see jobs such as Health and safety, quality, environmental, facilities, security manager all rolled into one advertised and even some with H/R responsibility tagged on as well. I have to ask myself if such recruiters have ever heard the phrase "Jack of all trades but master of none" With respect to H/S in particular, how much actual time can be devoted to such a vital role with so many other responsibilities to attend to?
What's that they say about sticking a broom somewhere and sweeping the floor at the same time !!

Yes and typically the salary range reflects the thinking on how important all of these issues are(n't)! Still being a QUENSH manager sounds very snazzy - I don't think.

Fair points Alan but if you now look at all the industries/sectors that are now recruiting safety people it is still a massive step forward from 10 years ago. Small companies don't have the resources to employ safety people alone so some roles get the add ons.
Got to be a plus that safety is in there.
That's also a positive as the individual gets the development and its mainly all risk management.

I would not moan - are not the line managers (especially in smaller firms) meant to be HR + operations + quality + facilities mangers - who also have immediate h&s responsibilities...
