I have been asked by my employers to create a checklist for the visual inspections of simple lifting equipment (not FLT's, cranes or hoists) and identify the requirement of a competent in-house person to carry out these inspections.
1. Does anyone have such a checklist?
2. What level of competency should I be recommending for this level of inspection?
I'm aware of the general requirements for a competent person but these machines are simple pneumatic tables to lift and lower products.
3. Does anyone know of any training courses for inspection of lifting equipment?

Try the Lifting Equipmant Engineers Association, I use their Pocket Guide book all the time for inspection, instruction and planning. www.leea.co.uk

I have just (literally)been looking for a similar course. Dewsbury Lifting Services, based in Leeds, have sorted me out. Give them a Google for contact details.
