Posted By Martin Taylor We are currently spending a lot of time on improving site safety arrangements wrt getting on and off curtain side trailers (only when there are no alternatives to working from the ground). We require the use of steps integrated to the trailers or mobile steps but in some cases neither if these options are viable. Many trailers have substantial bars along their length (to prevent other vehicles going under in the event of RTA). Are these consider in the haulage industry to be considered a safe means o0f access? Pulling up via the post supporting the roof. If so are there other safety considerations to be dealt with? thanks Martin

Posted By Martin Taylor The solution referenced by Ghaam is ideal for us - an adapted ladder with hadn rail and clamp system. Can anybody advise me directly if there is a commercial version of this product now available? Martin

Posted By Martin Taylor I would recommend anybody else with need for safe access to trailers to look at the HSE link recommended by Ghaam - if this isn't a commercially available system now I think somedbody should be approaching Dragon's Den..... Martin

Posted By Martin Taylor Breaking news - I have found out today that the product demonstrated on HSE site - (simple ladder complete with hand rail and clamping system to suit all trailer types)- is being prototyped as we type by a major ladder manufacturer (starts with Y - hope that's not advertising) - they expect to have something in the next month or so Martin

Posted By Richard Hinckley If of interest, I have some information I would be happy to share on a safety system that is permanently installed inside the curtain side trailers. Please email me richard@totalaccess.co.uk and I will happily send by return....
