Biggles - be aware that there is a new version of IOSH Working Safely - 3.1 - that started from April this year.
I got pulled yesterday for using the 3.0 paperwork!

As far as I am aware, you need to be NEBOSH qualified to deliver IOSH training.

In addition to information already given The cost of the course license is £1500 +vat ,then there is course books at £16 each.
I "think" there are new laws coming out that insist on a person holding at least a delivering learning type qualification to be able to deliver formal training.

In addition, after confirmation that quals and experience are adequate you will have to attend a 'familiarisation' training day at the Grange.

When accepted, your first training course is likely to be moderated by IOSH.

Chartered status is not a requirement.
You must be a member.
Affiliate status is satisfactory.

Contact IOSH training and they will forward you all the information you require for MS and WS - they are very helpful and will talk you through the process.

The above is relevant for both MS & WS.

I suspect information you have given was correct at one time, however the information i have given (as i understand it) is presently accurate.

I have only just went through the complete process for delivering MS & WS and i do not think i have misinterpreted anything.

I stand by my comments, however if i have made an error then perhaps the mod can clarify?

Suffice to say that my quals and experience have been deemed satisfactory to deliver both MS & WS and i am not chartered.

Affiliate membership status in conjunction with an NGC and 2 years delivering training experience is the minimum for consideration. Once through this stage one must attend the one day course at the Grange as previously stated at a cost of £29.00. This as i understand it covers both MS & WS.

Again your initial delivery is very likely to be attended/moderated by an IOSH 'inspector' to ensure delivery quality is satisfactory.

Hi Garry - I presently work for a safety consultancy / training facility.

We have a CMIOSH who allows us to get our registration.

I personally am GradIosh and 30 years work experience.

My colleagues did not have IOSH membership - although they have the relevant experience and are licensed and registered with IOSH for WS and MS

We recently applied to deliver NEBOSH and only then were they required to be IOSH members.

Please advise me If my colleagues are no longer meeting the requirements to deliver IOSH training.

This is important for my company.

Sorry but I have to agree with Gary.

I have been waiting to gain my CMIOSH so I could present IOSH courses. Once that was done and I visited The Grange for the familiarisation day for Managing Safely, at which point we were also informed that ‘membership’ was the requirement (at any level).

I like Gary think the move away from having a CMIOSH registered to the course, may have been introduced with the new 3.0 version of Managing Safely. It may be a strategic move by IOSH to open the courses up to more training companies, who knows without an official response.

But it does seem very strange as it is a significant change of direction that could potentially introduce sub-standard training to the IOSH brand. But that’s a totally different thread and not the point of the original question.

Hello everyone

To clarify the licensing criteria to deliver the different levels of employee health and safety training are as follows:

For Managing Safely and Working Safely courses trainers need to have:

1. A Qualifications and Curriculum Authority recognised health and safety qualification at national level 3 (such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).

2. Two years' training delivery experience of which at least 50% of the time was spent delivering courses face to face.

3. Attended an IOSH familiarisation training session.

4. The organisation will need to have an IOSH member at a minimum of Affiliate level to work with IOSH's training quality control team in overseeing the courses.

For Directing Safely trainers need to have:

1. CMIOSH level of membership of IOSH.

2. Provide three references from companies with up to 250 employees.

3. Attended an IOSH familiarisation training session.

4. The organisation will need to have a CMIOSH to work with IOSH's training quality control team in overseeing the courses.

For Safety for Senior Executives trainers need to have:

1. CMIOSH level of membership of IOSH.

2. Provide three references from companies with 250 employees or more.

3. Attended an IOSH familiarisation training session.

4. The organisation will need to have a CMIOSH to work with IOSH's training quality control team in overseeing the courses.

NB: the requirement to have an IOSH member to oversee the courses could be one person fulfilling both roles (trainer and IOSH member) or two people depending on the availability of suitably qualified people witin the organisation.

Various fees relate to both the purchase of either our packaged course or for having your own course approved to IOSH standards and the delivery of the courses.
