Posted By Raymond Rapp Robert Site briefing or induction? With the latter it is good practice to include the local environment and any hazards that may arise, emergency arrangements, site PPE, traffic management routes, welfare facilities, use of mobile phones, permits required and so on. The list is almost endless. You need to prioritise if only a 5 minute briefing, but you can't cover everything in that timescale. Ray

Posted By Swis Include some form of ‘scary/factual’ statistics of injuries. With a brief reminder to ‘follow the safety rules’ etc etc http://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/index.htm

Posted By Robert_N It is a snap shot on how the work place is doing the brief will be done for every aspect of the business with my section being health, safety and welfare.

Posted By Coshh Assessor I would want to include both a positive achievement (such as no injuries, improvement in practices) and something that needs to be changed for the future, that individuals can do something about (such as near miss reporting, housekeeping).

Posted By Robert K Lewis 5 mins is hardly worth even doing! What single point do you want to get across? - concentrate only on that and forget the powerpoint as there is only a single slide needed. Have you any specific campaigns or hazards that need to be reinforced. Bob

Posted By Merv Newman Bob, disagree that 5 minutes is hardly worth doing. Little and often is better than once in a blue moon. (as my old man used to say) Anyway, some 5 minute briefings can be found here : http://www.webworldinc.c...wes-con/safety2.html-ssi Merv

Posted By Robert K Lewis Merv But what does it say about the attitudes of management. I have seen all too often the H&S as a 5 minslot in a 1 day induction with HR having 3 hours. Good to see priorities!!:-) I still hold that you can only effectively cover a single point. Bob

Posted By Ciaran McAleenan Why take so long I have recently been giving text briefings. All the safety fundamentals in one text - 24 words does it. Best wishes Ciaran
