When a risk phrase is given like R10 = Flammable and a safety phrase is given like S24/25 = Avoid contact with skin and eyes, I understand the R and S equate to risk and safety phrases. But what does the J stand for say in J4 = contains white spirit?

Paint industry reference codes, means what it says. J37 = solvent based paint. Do not know the actual answer to what the J stands for, these codes appear to have been developed by ICI paints/Akzo Nobel.
