Hi

Can anyone tell me please if a felling lever would be classified as lifting equipment for the purposes of LOLER and therefore require 12 monthly inspections?

Thanks

Rob

i think you might have to give us a clue to what a felling lever is can you put a link to a photo or manufacturers site?

Not exactly sure about LOER, but it will certainly fall under the PUWER Regs which also requires assessments and inspections

I would say that there is no LOLER requirement, it is not lifting equipment. Forget LOLER, as David says it is Work Equipment and PUWER applies.

Establish a system for users to inspect them for damage / defect before use

Definatley not LOLER as designed for a single purpose, I use these regularly, As Steve says inspected by user for damage and defects (PUWER).

Agree with other replies; LOLER definitely not required as at no time is the lever used to suspend a load simply to provide mechanical advantage when toppling the tree.

Hi

Many thanks for all the replies. It seems clear that only PUWER applies and I will deal with this accordingly. Your assistance is really appreciated.
