I currently preparing a study thesis on risk assessment for hazardous chemical storage tanks. The methodology I choose are: - (a) hazard identification (b) consequence analysis (c) risk contour analysis (d) risk determination Beside the above, I would like to know any new elements can be included in my risk assessment study for hazardous chemical storage tanks. Thanks.

Hi, I expect you will include hazards like working at height for folks getting up on top to take samples etc., and preventing the fellow from falling in the tank, and catastrophc leaks (volume of sump?) but I really wanted to ask what is 'risk contour analysis', maybe I'm doing it in my usual 5 steps approajh but just curious exactly what it means :o)

John, I wondered the same thing and a quick google in quote marks revealed 2 results - almost a Googlewhack. Still none the wiser as the result document doesn't want to load. Ellick - have you done any reliability studies on your sensors and alarm systems for tank overfill etc? Lessons learnt from Buncefield. Also, are you dealing with a COMAH site here? Emergency action plans, sharing with authorities etc.
