Hi trevtotrev, It sounds like you have some excellent credentials in health and safety. I am a Canadian and have been working in the field oh&S for 8 years. I would say that in general your qualifications would be enough to get you some position within Canada. The CMIOSH designation MAY not make too much of a difference at this point, only because there is only marginal awareness of what it represents. In Canada the most visible credential is the CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional). This designation requires formal education, experience in health and safety, a successful screening interview and a passing grade on a comprehensive exam. Other credentials include the NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) which is a junior designation and the CSC (Construction Safety Coordinator - Gold Seal) which is a more senior safety designation. Both of these are specific to the construction industry. There is also the CHSC (Certified Health and Safety Consultant) that has recently undergone an overhaul to add more credibility to the designation.
