I currently hold my offshore survival cert and struggling to find work offshore, is it essential that I have a full medical and if so how much does it cost?

Kind regards,

Scott Gerty.

I suggest you try this link for the 2007 update for offshore medical certificate requirements.

http://www.oilandgas.org...h/docs/medicalupdate.pdf

Go here for more guidance on what is required and expected from you to be employed offshore.

http://www.contractorsun...es/offshoremedical.shtml

Hope this helps

Prices vary quite a lot. When I got mine done 2 years ago I think the cheapest were in the £60-70 region, but in some places it was double. It seemed that areas of the country near offshore training centres had most places offering medicals, which created competition and so brought the price down. This certainly seemed to be the case around Hull.

thank you to all for you response, I have checked out the links provided by you although I am still unclear if I am able to take a medical by a local GP or if it must be opito/ukoa approved.

Descarte,

thankyou for your input, you have been most helpfull.

I currently live in South Yorkshire and am struggling to find anywhere that provides the offshore medical.

Do you know of any links or any such provider possibly in Hull that may be able to help me?

Scott Gerty.

If you're still looking for an offshore medical, we may be able to help you.

We're 2 GPs based in Beverley, both UKOOA registered. If you've had no luck so far, let me know and I can pass you our contact details.

It cost me around 60 quid and is valid for 2 years, below is a link for the ukooa website which will give you a search engine to find your nearest doctor.

Descarte,

the list of ukooa registerd medical certificate providers was most useful. I have managed to get through to a couple of them and have been quoted around £80.

thank you,

Scott Gerty.

Thank you for your offer, I am looking to book my medical after Easter. I would be very appreciative if you could forward me more details such as quotes, starting times, how long the medical may take and all that is involved in the examination proces,
