Is my understanding correct, to ensure

  • Identify all pressure equipment and assemblies  at site with a maximum allowable pressure PS >0.5 bar.
  • Ensure that each system has a written scheme of examination (usually completed by insurance Allianz for example)
  • Adhere to the written scheme
  • Act on the reports sent through by the competent person (Allianz for example)
  • Inform the competent person (Allianz) of any new equipment installations on site so they can give it a written scheme and register it
  • Repeat

Failure to do so would mean breaking the law

I know that is a high high high level overview

That is pretty much the "flow chart" I follow. Same as I do with LOLER, LEV and some PUWER inspections.

You also need to complete a DSEAR assessment for pressure systems. Even if the relevant fluid isn't flammable. DSEAR also coveres pressurised gases and substances that may be corrosive to metals.
